Any suggestions for planning a nice Thanksgiving dinner?

Oct 03, 2006 by Amaya | Posted in Entertaining

I wanted to welcome our family Thanksgiving dinner this year, but my apartment is not big enough for 20 + people that we have. My BF is a great cook if he is in charge of most of the food and everyone is just providing small dishes or appetizers. I make pumpkin rolls and cranberry sauce. Regarding decorations will I use 4 large wick candles and put the grapes, apples and pears around them. I did a web by collecting leaves and use fabric paint to stamp them in a simple white table cloth.I also have ideas of other decorative items, but what I want to know is, is it totally pathetic use of disposable plates? I'm ready to buy Nice but I do not want myself or someone else having to deal with many dishes after we eat. I'd rather just relax, play some games and maybe watch the football. Any suggestions about dishes or any other decorations or anything would be appreciated! Thank you!
Ooops I forgot to mention that dinner will be held at the house of my uncle because he has a big house and she is divorcing and he is right there. I hate my little apartment!

It is Thanksgiving, so the most important is for your family and friends feel welcomed, comfortable, and having a good time. Try to think of it more as a celebration that you get to host your way. Over the years I have been all kinds of Thanksgiving dinners and have received many myself. One of the best and is still spoken by everyone is a little non-traditional. My father had moved into a new house, but he was also the center of a remodeled kitchen. He ended up being about 30 people there and everything that could go wrong did.First driving under the kitchen sink burst, then the storm knocked out power before any food was because my father fired barbecue and has borrowed its neighbors barbecue to finish the turkey, biscuits, etc. The food was served buffet with good disposable plates, cups, napkins and cutlery. We had several tables set up in the living room and dining room with lots of candles and a fire in the fireplace. It was beautiful, and fun.Everyone had a good time and ate too much, and I do not think they gave a second thought to what type of plate they ate outside, but it was nice to enjoy my family and being stuck in the kitchen to 10,000 additional dishes. There will be busy enough with all the bowls and plates. I say make it fun, special and yours.

By the way pumpkin rolls sound really tasty. Care to share the recipe?
