What went wrong with my cupcakes?

Nov 25, 2006 by Silver | Posted in Cooking & Recipes

I baked cakes for Thanksgiving. I followed the recipe exactly to the letter, but they do not come out quite right. They taste quite good, but the texture is so out of "sticky" and "glossy" instead of the semi-dry and sweet.

I doubt they are underbaked, because I have the preheated oven and withdrew the allotted amount of time. I'm sure if I cooked it longer, they have started to burn slightly. Also, I would note that I used only fresh ingredients purchased.

Why do my cupcakes prove "sticky" and "glossy"?
Interesting theories and responses to date.

So far, I agree with these two possibilities mentioned:

1. possible to overmix
2. oven temperature can be inaccurate

A third possibility further, no one has mentioned yet:

Are you supposed to sift the flour BEFORE or after you measure it? I realize that a cup of sifted flour weighs less than a cup of unsifted flour. The recipe does not specify.

It appears that you overmixed dough - make that causes gluten flour to become hard and stringy, and finally the cake more dense / sticky lint.

sticky and shiny generally mean denser and it would mean too much fluid or oil or something. How do you measure your flour? Maybe you've measured the Cup right wise, but how did you pack the measuring cup?

Nov 19, 2007 by MsBabyPhat | Posted in Cooking & Recipes

I have a few cookie/cupcakes recipes for thanksgiving. For eaxmple, I have a very cute cookie recipe for a turkey cookie.....any ideas or websites, that have cute cookie or cupcake or even cake ideas for holidays for kids.

These are really cute & look very easy to make. They are slice & bake sugar cookies that look like turkeys with candy corn & icing. Here's a link if you're interested:

Make cupcakes with carrot cake and cream cheese frosting.
On one half of the rim of the cupcake use candy corn around the edge like turkey feathers. Then on the other side draw a turkey face with yellow and red frosting in a little tube.

Final summer wishes: Farmer’s Market

, I'm an amateur at heart and here we are free to request samples of the spicy homemade salsa with tomatoes, fresh bread to cupcakes. It is really worth waking up early to visit the farmers market. Outside of food and product, there are booths that sell things made by hand such as jewelry, paintings and also the animation by local artists.

I brought with me a baguette, garlic and Roma tomatoes with eagerness that I whipped together for dinner at our Italian theme throughout the day. Some time ago, I came across Pomodori al Forno recipe from Bon Appetit. I have changed a little: I use half the amount of olive oil and dried parsley. I also put garlic in half the cooking time to reduce the meeting time. It appears to be a great appetizer, tomatoes are sweet and tasty and the reserved oil is great for bread dipping. I also cooked spaghetti alla carbonara using this recipe from Food Network. The only difference is that I used turkey bacon on mine.

Overall, it was a good meal at the end of August. Hence the closure of my wishes this summer.I know I was 1-2 days late on writing this post, but I had to block certain writer and having to spend time preparing for the new semester. The absence of my appearance in the photos, I would say that early morning and the heat of the kitchen has not really helped to get a good portrait ^. ^ Thanks for bugs in the drawer for the opportunity to join your challenge.

I hope you enjoy your summer and ready for next season. Autumn / Fall is really my favorite season for its beautiful colored leaves and red all holiday fun (can not wait for Thanksgiving).
