The day after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year in the United States. You can bet that waiting to cross the border at Blaine will be long.

You'd probably have better luck moving a little east and crossing.; Let Aldergrove, Sumas or should help with the problem of congestion.

See link below for some good ideas.

How are thanksgiving celebrations different on both sides of the border?

What festivities/events/traditions are distinct to each country?

I know Thanksgiving is also celebrated in Canada, but I never thought it was much different. We're too much alike, and our histories are too similar, for there to be much difference. I've even heard people laugh when someone described a Canadian as a foreigner, so draw whatever conclusions you can from that.

Well, it certainly is that time of year again, time of year when we are all forced to think about the season of holiday shopping even before Halloween is over. It is still warm outside and the store shelves now include Father Christmas and the new glittering Christmas ornaments for your Christmas tree. So I assume it would be wise of us to start thinking about how to approach our shopping techniques for the holiday season. We simply must make a commitment not to make the same mistakes we did last year standing in long lines, fighting the crowds, spending more than we budget until the last minute or being the absolute first in line on "Black Friday" (the day after Thanksgiving that traditionally marks the start of the season for holiday shopping) and finally get trampled as we struggle to get the discounted digital camera or television screen flat.

Instead, we will take the "Smarter Shopper Holiday Pledge" (for printing and sharing).

"Smarter Shopper Holiday Pledge"

I, (insert your name here), we pledge to respect the ten tips for holiday shopping described below. I realize that by not doing so, I may suffer the consequences of remorse holiday shopper, which include but are not limited to loss of cash reserves, higher debt credit card, and madness, about overexposure to large crowds, outrageous lines and product inventories low.

1. I'll use cash. Using money, it is easier to stay within budget.I do not speak, even using your debit card because you are able to justify going on just a bit on a special gift if there is money available in your checking account. I say set limits, use cash, and when money is gone, no more than buy gifts. Now it will take some self control and I struggle with myself in the holiday season, but if you have 100 for gifts, so do not push the budget and spend 101.No matter how you get wrapped in Christmas lights, music, and other buyers of holiday smiling carrying their shopping bags great, stay in your budgetcash will help you do that!...
