What is the difference between a Baptism and a Thanksgiving Blessing?

I have bboked my babys christening and wa told that they do not use the water as it is now called a Thanksgiving Blessing rather than a Baptism. Does this mean my baby will still be christened?
a baby's christening is us as parents promising to raise the child to know Christ as we know Him. We as parents, tho, cannot choose our child's faith... that is a decision that they will need to make on their own.. we can only teach them what we know... once they have decided to accept Christ as their Savior... they can choose to be obedient and be baptized...
not so sure about calling a christening a 'thanksgiving blessing?!" what church do you go to?

I think all through history Chrstians have baptized with water...
it is great to thank God for the baby... but... it appears all baptisms in the New Testament are with water.
