Mardi Gras homecoming?

Sep 20, 2007 by mowsermae | Posted in Fashion & Accessories

I have posted this 3 times now and SOMEONE out there must have a suggestion for me. My son is 16yrs old. He mostly wears black band t shirts. Mardi gras themed homecoming. Dates dress is blue & gold. ANY suggestions would be appreciated
ok, sorry I didn't elaborate, but I didn't think anyone would respond again. Not too formal. Most are doing nice pants & tie.....I need colors that won't make him TOO uncomfie

he doesn't seem like he's very festive. in fact, he's probably a "down with establishment" sort of kid. that's cool but yes it's hard to dress him up then.

If you get him something festive he is mostly likely going to feel uncomfortable being so flashy when he's not. So my suggestion is just get him a nice pair of black dress pants and blue button down shirt that matches his dates dress with a gold tie (or a blue and gold patterned tie) Your local mall is the best bet to go to. they'll have a better selection of blue shirts and ties.

If he is "under dress" then next school function he'll most likely express to you he would rather be more festive. but this is something you can't force him into you know. some ppl just aren't the festive, draw a lot of attention to me types.

What would be nice also (not sure if this is considered dorky anymore or not lol i'm 28 too so it hasn't been that long) but you should also get him an Iris corsauge (i know i spelled that wrong but you know what i mean the flowers you put on her wrist) with gold mardi gras bedangled stuff in it. That would be cool. OOOOOHHHH...instead of a flower wrist thingy you could just get him the mardi gras beads matching ones for him and his date..a whole bunch of them. That way he's semi-festive but doesn't stand out too much to make him feel uncomfortable.

Before You Get Bummed Out…

It's September. It churns my stomach. If I was still in high school, I would be discouraged to be back in my uniform of a Catholic school, college, I'd be very happy to be back on campus. But alas, the beginning came to take me a bit ago if nothing changes. The work is still on every Monday, but soon enough there will be no time range that dominates my weekends. Ugh.

But do not worry. Besides the fact that we still have Labor Day Weekend (a beautiful - but dark - something in itself), early autumn along the Jersey weather is beautiful, almost deserted watering and very fun events. If you're like me (here for the long distance) or the unofficial start of fall, brings you to points north or west, side of September is the ideal way to relax your soul Summer and settle in for the fall. Before you get the blues Labor Day, visit the second weekend in September-of-events and you will see that we can just as much a party as the first.

Jenks' Welcome Back Locals Bash: Each year, Jenks celebrates the first weekend of the off-season with a party to announce the return of his crowd, mostly local. Well, they try d '.Last year, a rather nice boy guido fell on me around the bar and has graciously offered to redeem myself (what else?) A Jager bomb. We chatted a bit and he asked where I lived. I told him near Lavallette and he goes, "Where's that?" Oh man. It was Staten Island. I noticed a big-haired, long-nailed girl around him giving me the eye when I walk back, lest she think I was moving in on her man. It may not be hyper-local, but for $ 1 drink bar (9-11 pm), $ 2 Coors Lights and no coverage, you can not beat. So Go Go Gadget play and Jenks is giving away 1,000 T-shirts.They keep these deals up all winter. In fact, I've never been so massive Beach Club pleasant walk between MDW and LDW....
