New Seminole compact: Too many escapes
My first reaction to reading the last chord game between the Seminoles and Governor Charlie Crist: Uh-oh. Here we go again.
Like the 2007 original, this version gives too much importance to the Seminoles, and does not leave enough flexibility for the state.
There are too many escape clauses and reduction, and a few new wrinkles that are not in the best interest of the state.
A new escape clause that caught my attention: A vague and confusing language that allows passage of the Seminoles stop guaranteed minimum payments if the federal government allows online / Internet games and gambling revenue the tribe's annual decline of more than 5 per cent.
Does this mean the Seminoles get so sites online poker were legalized?

Will the Legislature go for this deal?I gave to predict, but let's just say there are plenty of stumbling blocks and "red flags" (in the words of Galvano Point Man's legislative bill) to send the transaction in the manure.
This could leave things in the hands of federal authorities - the Ministry of Interior and its Bureau of Indian Affairs - the sort.
Here are some other random thoughts about the agreement that scribbled out:
- The Pact definition of "indoor games" includes only slot machines and table games like blackjack and baccarat. This implies that the Seminoles do not have to share revenue from poker rooms with state .Pari-Mutuel poker rooms give 10 percent of revenue to the state.
- The compact has a sliding scale that calls for higher percentages of revenue sharing with the increase in gaming revenues, but it divides the threshold Broward Seminole between three and four non-casinos in Broward. This will make it harder to trigger higher rates, which is good for the Seminoles and bad for the state....
