Capturing a rare Dixiana band that crosses the atmosphere of The Last Show Larry McMurtry's Picture with the Cajun blues Link Davis and the Creole Jazz Lizzy Miles, Michael Hurtt and His Haunted hearts have been turning on the road less traveled since 2004, when they met for the sole purpose of the resurrection of New Orleans, once rich now nearly invisible hillbilly music. A favorite of everyone from Lazy Lester to the end, Great Hunter S.Thompson, hearts were won stages at South by Southwest in Austin behind pioneers like Texas Playboys steel guitarist Herb Remington and Louisiana rocker Jay Chevalier. Hearts celebrate the release of the vinyl LP version of Come Back to Louisiana, they hit the Midwest for a series of shows in late August and early September. They will play three concerts in Detroit (Michael Hurtt's Home since losing everything in Hurricane Katrina), including a benefit for the venerable dive The Old Miami.They will perform Saturday, September 5th Festival Hamtramck Labor Day with Jack Scott and the return from Big Bash, among other great acts. Sunday, they hit the Cadieux Café and Monday they will help to eliminate the benefit for five days for the Old Miami, taking the stage at midnight.
