Planning a Mardi Gras themed party, in desperate need of help.?

Jan 25, 2009 by Jessica | Posted in Entertaining

So I'm having a Mardi Gras party in about a month, and it's gonna be with about 25 people. I have decided that I'm gonna crown a king or queen, based on a points system. The costume contest will be worth five points, getting the baby in the king cake one point, and all games won three points. Masks are required but it's not formal, you just wear your most festive outfit. Please help? Any fun games, food, decoration, anything. Oh, and the age group is fourteen-sixteen, so keep it... appropriate.

here's an awesome Mardi Gras party article.. should be able to get some good ideas here.

You definitely need to have a KING CAKE (or several); shrimp dip; beignets; muffaletta. If you want "real" food, you could have bowls of jambalaya, shrimp creole or shrimp etouffe.... Make virgin margaritas /daiquiris in your blender..... Lots of beads, feathers & masks for decorations in green, purple and gold. Get some travel posters for New Orleans to hang up

Godology: A God-Awful Book

It is not immediately apparent Godology what is still the subject (see below), but its lack of depth is very apparent. George has 132 citations. Of these, 1 is a remark a classmate who has made 8 come addreses or sermons he heard at the seminar, 8 are personal comments, 10 refer to Web sites, 5 are items magazine (almost always Christianity Today), and four films or television programs. That still leaves 101 citations of books, which on the surface seems impressive, at least until you start paying attention. Then you realize that these 101 books, 59% of quotes from page 100 or less and 36% of them are on page 50 or less! (17% of the citations are from secondary sources. It did not bother to watch original statements in their contexts.) As I noted above, George has a great mastery of the English language. He wrote much, but he writes badly. Firstly, the book is literally terrifying. It meanders. While the chapters provide some structure to structure, paragraphs, even sentences, have little contact with others around him. This leaves the reader confused sometimes, wondering what in the world George speaks. It was also unnecessary (and irritating) dumbs theology. On the back cover, Chuck Colson said that George talks "in a language that young evangelicals will have access." Perhaps, but these evangelicals are supposed to be educated, not living. Meditation makes the mundane things of life magic. Objects Single become gateways to God. A blade of grass points to God's creativity. A piece of rock reflects its protection. Even the drippings of a leaky radiator reveal the love that never ceases to God.Meditation focuses our attention on one subject - a poem, a picture, a leaf, a rusty bicycle wheel - and shows Christ in the ordinary ... isolate a single object ... wrap your mind around it. The engage, observe, apply. Meet your senses ... lick it if you must. (pp....
