Mardi gras?

Jan 01, 2008 by Amber T | Posted in New Orleans

This is a list of what I think about selling ... What do you think? What should I charge? Have you anything to add? I can not sell beer guys sorry.

Boas
Wigs
Top Hats
Fuzzy Hats
Jester Hats
Tote
Glow Sticks
(gloves, umbrellas -> if it rains)

I'm looking for some items that I can make as much money. All ideas will be useful. I will work Mardi Gras by myself and I have no car points very big will not work for me.

Thank you for all your help!!
I try to find things I can not sell, it will be easier with a great return. I do not have enough space to keep soft drinks or candy floss and I think I would only $ 1 per net sales. It is not realistic for me.

boas are well done too much in the gift shops
I would like to sell handbags and glow sticks
you'd better sell beads Titty they are plastic balls with female breasts on them and some even lit.
Those would be good to sell because everyone wants one and they are extremely difficult to catch. caould even charge you double or triple the price you pay for them and people would still sell well

I have never nor would I ever buy anything at a street vendor at Mardi Gras ... Perhaps because I am not a "tourist", but that looks like the normal crap that is sold. I guess t-shirts and Mardi Gras cups, not mugs of beer in plastic cups but hurricaine.

I'm thinking about having a Mardi Gras themed wedding reception. My husband is in the military...?

Jun 17, 2008 by Kara D | Posted in Weddings

so we got married out in WA. We are both from IN and would like to have a reception since we didn't actually get a wedding. We are now stationed in New Orleans, so we were thinking about the Mardi Gras theme. We would have masks, beads, boas. No flashing if you are going to mention that it's trashy. No it's not...it's a fun experience. Does anybody have any ideas on what else we could do in detail for the reception if we do decide to go with the theme?? Thanks in advance.
By "No flashing"...I meant that there wasn't going to be any flashing at my reception. I said it wrong in the question. It sounded like I said that flashing wasn't trashy...it is at a reception

Be sure to serve plenty of local food like gumbo, jambalaya, dirty rice, etc. Be sure you serve king cake, I'm sure you can find a bakery in the NO area that will make one (Gambinos usually will). Perhaps have a contest and give out prizes to whomever finds the baby in the king cake.
Mardi Gras primary colors are purple, green and gold. You could also use black as an accent color, like maybe black table cloths that are decorated with the tricolor accents.
Usually in the NO area, you'll find stores that sell the Mardi Gras flag, this would be great for a focal point.

I know Party City and other type stores sell a French Quarter background you can use for the reception, also.

A great idea that would make nice details would be to make mini-Mardi Gras floats out of shoe boxes. Just wrap them in purple, green, gold, add some streamers at the bottom and hang from the ceiling to have your own mini-Mardi Gras parade!

Oh, and don't forget, plenty of jazz music. If you have the budget, there are plenty of bands in the city for hire or even just pop in a favorite CD....

Best of luck!

Mountainside Mardi Gras | 08.08 | Red Rocks

When you think "Mardi Gras", what comes to mind? Thousands of colored beads, boas and face paint? Second-line parades, non-stop music and funk band? Perhaps a group of incredibly enthusiastic revelers ready to dance, drink and festive? Well, that's exactly what the Mardi Gras Mountainside Music Festival at Red Rocks Amphitheater was. Any music, ball toss, booty-shaking madness of Mardi Gras has gained ground in Morrison, Colorado while eight of the most talented of New Orleans came from the Big Easy to the Rocky Mountains. The event was a first for the new For / Sure Productions, started by 23 years, Trevor Jones, who was the youngest person to make a show at Red Rocks. The result was a one-day festival created to pay tribute to the musical Mecca that is New Orleans and bring Colorado remarkably talented musicians performing in this city.

The thousands of fans may not have filled the amphitheater, but the energy they emitted was immeasurable. Were equally enthusiastic and musicians, many having been away from their home city and fellow performers for several weeks. The artists were greeted by swarms of hugs, handshakes and friendly recognition as they met them. The positive waves of the morning was followed by Dr. stars John 's last note of "Save Our Wetlands," which closed the festival at midnight.

The concert started just after 1:00 pm when New Orleans rockers Johnny Sketch and the ticket sales were the first to go on stage Red Rocks ready to start the festival funk inevitable. From the moment they began, spread enthusiasm JSDN to the already-anxious crowd, instantly raising the energy level inside the amphitheater. The series began with a drum and a strong bass line, Johnny Sketch 's fast, powerful guitar riffs, horn accents and staccato shouts of command to the audience to "Dance!" Does not go unnoticed....
