His article last week was a strange mixture of praise and finger wagging on television food, focusing on everything from heights, fine dining Julia Child's recipes made at home, in the depths (Sandra "Kwanzaa Cake "Lee). However, the major point was that people in the kitchen today can barely work a microwave, but that will relish to store their knives and go home on "Top Chef." Instead be inspired to cook with Julia, protests Pollan that we live vicariously through our television chiefs instead of picking up a knife from ourselves. I'm not saying that I used to be this way.Growing up, my mother cooked the entire lunch hour and I have never shown any interest in learning what it was. I could justify the nuking a Stouffer's Mac and cheese cooking because it took more than a walk (take out of box on the corner lifting Plasti-wrap, put in oven). It is no surprise that, under a regular pre-made food freezing and canned soups, I was not exactly at my healthiest.I can see why Pollan May hate Food TV (I want to scissor-kick Rachael Ray every time she says "evoo"), but it helped make me start to cook. I looked beyond the canned food and began to pick up a knife along with Hung and Casey on "Top Chef." Alton Brown made me appreciate the science behind my food. Mario Batali made me less afraid of hooves and a snout. I am how a piece of crusty bread simple fresh tomato, roasted garlic and could be Giada. Yeah, it was fun, but it made me want to do myself. If Bobby Flay can cook up some ribs , so if I can!
