I think I want to start collecting a Halloween Village and I need suggestions...?

Jul 30, 2009 by GH01 | Posted in Halloween

What are companies doing Village Collectible Halloween? I saw Spooky Town Halloween Snow Village by Department 56 collectibles and Hawthorne, is it more?

Are these different villages around the same scale so you can take a few pieces of each collection?

Are there any good sites for ideas for presentation?

Lemax Spooky Town, Department 56 and Hawthorne are greatest. Wal-Mart carries a Christmas village, Target is also good, but do not know which manufacturer (probably Lemax).

The villages are near the same scale, but probably not exactly. Personally, I avoid Lemax simply because of all the noise (and yes, I know that you can activate the audio). I know that among the villages that D56 Christmas snow village is on a scale larger than the other villages.

I used parts of my Lemax NBC Hawthorne set, especially paved roads, trees, streetlights, etc. without any problem of scale.

As for websites, I suggest that research bulletin boards or chat rooms or looking at pictures of other screens. Most of what I could find were easily Hawking DVD and video cassettes of yourself.

I saw some wonderful photos online, but it has been a long time. If I can find them (or others) I'll post a link for you.

I know that Hallmark stores also carry a village of Halloween. So does Target, although they did not look very good (although I like other Target's Halloween decorations).

I do village of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (Sleepy Hollow not the movie) and I'm using a combination of Spooky Town pieces, like the headless horseman, and the pieces that I myself am doing.I bought a house of paper mache and a small wooden house from a craft store and I am painting and decorating them.

Where is a good store to find christmas or halloween village pieces?

Aug 16, 2007 by Rich Marcia | Posted in Christmas

I am creating a reference site for collectors of Department 56 village pieces and am trying to create a Google Map of recommended shops. Where are good collectible shops where you've bought Department 56?

jcpenney, costco, and the dollar shop have a lot of stuff like that.

Q & A with Harry Rinker: Mickey Roony’s One Man Band Toy, Pitcher and Basin

QUESTION: I have a Mickey Rooney's One Man Band toy that is near mint in the box period. The One Man Band consists of a washboard, the top part of which has a paper label with a head and shoulder photos of Mickey Rooney on the left and "Mickey / Rooney / One Man Band" on the right . A horn, Bell, two clackers tin lithograph (shaped like hand clackers Halloween), and two pie pans are attached to the washboard. A kazoo also accompanies the set. There is no manufacturer information box or the washboard. When was it made and how much is it worth?

ANSWER: Mickey Rooney was born Joe Yule, Jr. September 23, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY. Vaudeville Chorus Girl Nellie Carter and comic Joe Yule Sr., were his parents. After a trip to Hollywood has failed to win a part in "Hal Roach Our Gang" series, Nellie and Joe Jr. returned to Hollywood in 1926. Joe Jr. 's big break came in 1927 when he was cast as Mickey "Himself" McGuire in a series based on a comic book of the same name. After an unsuccessful attempt to change Joe Jr.'s name to Mickey McGuire (the comic creator deprecated), her mother installed on Mickey Rooney. MGM Rooney offered a contract. In 1937 he was cast as Andy Hardy in which led to 13 other films of Andy Hardy. This year also marked the first film appearance of Rooney with Judy Garland. His film career pinnacle in 1939 to 1941, three years, he has been chosen as the biggest box office draw Man.

Triva QUESTIONS: How many women do have Mickey Rooney?

The October3, 1953, issue of> i> Box Office contains the following information in the list of Seattle: "Mickey Rooney clubs' One Man Band" were brought to Seattle for the first time and are now present in all cinemas Sterling . The district clubs allow members of the band to appear on stage and play their instruments with kiddies on Saturday mornings. "The image of Rooney on the washboard and the decorative motifs on lithography clackers support an early to mid 1950s behind your One Man Band toy....
