To recall, the collection contains twenty-two stories. Most were black. Some are beyond black and live in that space exerts a pressure on margins that some readers may regard as acceptable. I told you that I found "The Biography of Stoop, the Thief" by Steven Torres to be dull, but deeply touching, and that "the Games" by Bryon Quertemous is well written, but not easy reading for the delicate and "School Daze" by J.Konrath has Harry McGlade as a protagonist who you can instantly you know the kind of story it will be. As promised, I read some more stories. Blake Crouch weaves a brother of dark suspense and terror "* 69" which left me discouraged. Patrick Shawn Bagley meets the high standards of characterization that I have come to expect in his writing with "Welcome to Wal-Mart, Motherf ** ker." His protagonist, Tina, may not be the girl next door, but I know if I met her in the street.In "No Thanks, Please" Declan Burke shows once again how people are able to cause their own misery.
