Can you help me create a carnival themed birthday cake?
I try to create a birthday cake for my daughter's 3rd birthday. We are going all out and make a carnival theme birthday party with a tent, a petting zoo, games, etc. I am not really interested in buying a cake, I prefer doing it myself. The only problem I can not, because I can not find really good ideas. I did one for a box of popcorn, but it seemed "sloppy." Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Carnival Party
A carnival party theme can be great fun for both parents planning the party and the children who are lucky enough to attend. With carnival style games as entertainment and as the price for the party is sure to be a hit. A little imagination and few supplies purchased in stores, it is easier than it sounds.
Invitation
On your computer, you can print a ticket for the great "entry in the birthday bash or if you can find bags of popcorn in a restaurant supply store or print information on a card and place it in the bag. There are also store bought really cute clown invitations you can buy in stores with supplies that fit the theme.
Decorations
Primary color balloons tied everywhere. If you have a good artist to draw the family carnival type posters on poster board and hang in the backyard. A large canopy tent for gifts, cake, dining area can be set up to resemble a tent decorated with streamers.
Food
Serve all your food at once or have a booth set up a concession stand. The age of these children could be a deciding factor on this one, young children may not take the time to eat unless they are educated. Some suggestions for a carnival-style food is popcorn, hot dogs, corn dogs, ice cream bars, cotton candy (you can buy it already), and the cake, you may want to decide make the cupcakes on it (it will save time in the service, you'll be busy with so many other areas of the game).
Games
Set up booths carnival style using gaming tables, large boxes, plywood, sheets or any other accessory you may have to configure your games.Three or four games are good, you will need to have an adult or teenage child to work each booth. You can either take the tickets to play each game once or buy a roll of tickets to distribute a lot of tickets and let them play for some time. If you have already attended a carnival you probably already have some ideas in mind the types of games you can play. If you need help here are some to get you going. You can give small prizes to the stands such as stickers, candy, rings, etc. or to win tickets to redeem prizes.
Ring Toss: Buy plastic rings in a toy store and place a few bottles of soda water-filled plastic or you can do without opening it and drinking later.
Place them in your "stand" and let the games begin.
Go Fish: You can buy a toy fishing set or make your own with a stick and string. Attach a magnet to the string, make paper fish with construction paper and watching a clip on the end. Using color coded fish the player wins the prize that corresponds to the color of their catch.
Ball throw: Using a TV set or a surface with another small to make a small pyramid from aluminum cans, for older children you can use something a little heavier. Use a light ball and having the players hit the cans out of the surface.
Bean Bag Toss: Use a piece of cardboard and cut holes large enough for a beanbag to cross greater for young children. You can draw a funny face and use his mouth as a hole or make several holes on the shelf. The goal is to get the beanbag in the hole. You can use a chair or stool to support the board.
Select Styles: Get a half-sphere polystyrene and a bag of lollipops. Color with a marker of some funds lollipops. Stick the lollipops into the sphere so that you can? T see these colors, guests choose from a pop and if it has a color that wins a special prize if she? S they just win the lollipop.
Activities
With the game booths, you can also configure some booths other fun activities like face painting, a tattoo booth (with tattoos of course), an array of finger painting and a photo booth (cut a hole the face on plywood or thick cardboard and draw a strange body, take a Polaroid to provide for the party). If you have a larger budget, you can actually engage in entertainment as a clown or a magician.
Party Favors
Prices for the games become your party, make sure everyone gets home a prize giving something to every ticket (purchase price or a small token). You can also provide pre-packaged cotton candy or animal crackers in their favor. A place to find favors carnival supplies is Oriental Trading Company, Inc.
